Mission

The Exercise Psychology and Wellness SIG is a professional group whose members are engaged in the science and practice of lifestyle modification, behavior change, and healthy strategies’ adherence within exercise, sport, and human performance. Examples of areas of investigation include, but are not limited to neuroscience, exercise adherence strategies, cognitive and behavior change strategies, pain management, lifestyle enhancement interventions and the effects of exercise on mood, mental health, and quality of life for vulnerable, athletic, healthy or clinical populations.

Our Main Goals:

To serve as a resource and increase awareness and acquisition of skills among practitioners, and to network with other service providers and researchers.

To promote ethical research in exercise psychology and wellness, and to provide opportunities for scholars with similar interests by sharing ideas.

To provide support and mentorship to students by enhancing their mastery and understanding of exercise psychology practices.

To inform society about the fundamental tenets of exercise psychology, and to act as a referral resource for competent professionals as well as our communities.
