AASP Special Interest Groups (SIG)
Purpose
- Stimulate scholarly and professional growth
- Increase interest in a focused topic
- Develop "content" - educational resources for either sport psychology professionals and/or the general public
(i.e., social media posts, blog entries, YouTube videos, newsletter articles, journal articles, conference presentations)
Benefits
- Opportunity to work with other AASP members who are passionate about a focused scholarly and/or professional practice topic
- An annual SIG meeting at the AASP conference
- Recognition of the SIG on the AASP website and the opportunity to attract new group members
Creating a New SIG
- Identify at least 10 current AASP members interested in forming the SIG
- Generate a name for the SIG and the SIG mission statement
- Complete the SIG Proposal Form

SIG & Coordinator Responsibilities
- Coordinators will complete and submit two report annually of SIG activities and membership to the Membership Services Division Head
- SIGs will undergo a review once every two years; inactive SIGs will be discontinued
