Bert Carron
On June 2, 2014 we lost one of our most distinguished colleagues. Dr. Bert Carron was a cherished friend and mentor to many in our field, and greatly influenced our understanding of the psychology of physical activity and, specifically, group dynamics. While his contributions reverberate within the literature, it was also important to Bert to contribute to academic societies. In addition to his work with other national (SCAPPS) and international (e.g., NASPSPA) groups, he was a Charter Fellow of AASP, editor of the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology, and delivered the 1992 Coleman Griffith Address. While we have benefited from his work in our field, more importantly we valued his mentorship and friendship, and extend our condolences to his family. We will miss him very much.
