Overview
Contemporary careers in sport are so intense that athletes are almost always in one or even several simultaneous athletic and non-athletic transitions and, therefore, they might need professional assistance. During the last decade several new trends in career transition research and practice have evolved.
This webinar will have four parts:
- Brief overview the current structure of the athlete career topic in sport psychology, emphasizing how career development and career transition theoretical frameworks and research are related to career assistance
- Introduction of new trends in international studies on normative transitions (mainly, the junior-to-senior from a holistic lifespan and a holistic ecological perspectives), non-normative (injury), and quasi-normative (cultural transitions, transitions to the residential high performance centers, and big competitions as transitions)
- Information on emerging directions in applied work relevant to the new transition research
- Participant discussion and questions on how transition research informs relevant practice, and vice versa
